I HEAR CHAINS BREAKING…
I keep hearing in my Spirit… It’s about Relationship!
If we desire Restoration of our Marital Relationship, we first have to figure out what does Restoration look like? Restoration is the returning of something or someone to their original state intended by God, then perfecting it and making it better than before. In our case, we are needing the relationship with God, Husband & Wife restored. Since our husband or wife is not currently responding in their proper role of the relationship, shouldn’t we be determined to work on the relationship that never leaves us or forsakes us? And since none of us are perfect, why not use this time to work on self. Having said that… What does our relationship with Father God look like?
I will use myself as the example. Right before my husband and I separated, my relationship with God was not as strong as it had been at other times in my life. Often when our relationship with God is strained, every other relationship is not being tended to properly. For instance, after walking with the Lord for 30+ years. I look back at the times when my life has been a mess. Consistently, those are the times when I was wrapped up in me. Yeah, I talked to God, but if I am honest, I wasn’t listening for His response. I just wanted to be heard and I wanted my needs met. On the flip side, when I have made God my #1 priority, he has made me shine, in all aspects of life. With my husband, my children, my parent’s and siblings, most of the time I know how they are going to respond before they speak, I know their mannerism’s, I know what pleases them and what anger’s them, because I have time invested with them. We have grown together, cried together, laughed together, rejoiced and celebrated together. We have spent years together communicating.
Our Heavenly Father, desires us to know Him that same way and even deeper. He created us, he has a purpose and a plan for our lives, but how often during our lifetime have we asked Him… What does He want from us? And when He tells us, do we meet His need. Do we even consider what he is asking us to do for him? Do we even ask His opinion in a matter or do we just ask Him to fill our request. Our relationship with God is not just about getting our needs met. It is about meeting His needs as well. He wants your undivided attention. He wants your heart. Think of it this way… what if you had a parent, a spouse or a child that only spoke to you when they needed you. They never asked for your opinion unless it benefitted them. There was no sustenance in the communication. That would be painful. We invest in them, but they don’t reciprocate. Do you ever think how that makes the Lord feel?
We were made in the image of Elohim God and Jesus Christ. In the very beginning, Genesis 1:26, the very first part says… And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: So then where do we think we get an understand of how to relate with one another? We got it from God, yet we don’t think we need to tend to the one that gave us life. ??? Some examples of what a Relationship with God, Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit looks like are: 1) Praising God, in speech and song, for HIS goodness towards us in word and deed, 2) Thanking HIM for the things HE has already done in our lives and the things HE is doing on our behalf that maybe we can’t yet see. 3) Studying the Word of God, getting to know His character, His love for His followers, what He expects of His children. How are you to know about God unless you study how GOD WORKS. 4) Praying … sharing ALL your hopes, dreams, fears, concerns, cares, wants and listening for HIS response. 5) It’s about being a do’er of the word LOVE, not just needing to receive love from Him and others.
It is through this RELATIONSHIP that GOD RESTORES US. Once we are restored then he can use our growth to allow others to see that we are different, changed, they will see something in you that they can’t find in this world. They will be drawn to you because the Spirit of God is now sharpened and crafted within you. Restore the most important relationship you could ever have, which is with God, and the rest will fall into place.#UNCHNED (through relationship with God)
Psalm 139:14 (KJV) I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
